The first smartphones running the Ubuntu operating system will cost between $200 and $400, said Mark Shuttleworth. During an interview, Canonical's founder confirmed that their goal is to produce mid-range and high-end devices with affordable prices.The company plans to produce handsets that can act as a smartphone and also work as a PC when plugged into the monitor. They are now working with Meizu and BQ to produce Ubuntu Touch handsets that should arrive later this year.
